Apr 25, 2017

“Fairfield Classics & Improvisations” will be a delightful evening of classical music and improvisations featuring four Fairfield musicians and one from Iowa City at 7:30 p.m. May 2 in the Sondheim Theater as the last performance of the 2016-17 Chamber Music Spotlight Series.

The evening’s program will feature Dee Sandquist on the Barhydt Organ, Gary Roth on clarinet, Steve Hillis on piano, Werner Elmker on piano, and Iowa City musician, Jeffrey Agrell on French horn.

The evening’s program will include pieces ranging from Beethoven and Bach to improvised versions of favorite preludes to well-known contemporary pieces. Each musician will be featured in solos as well as perform duets and trios. And of course, the concert will feature the Barhydt Chapel Organ and Steinway piano.

“We are fortunate to have such a high level of musicianship in Fairfield and the opportunity to provide them with the spotlight of showcasing their talent on the Sondheim stage is a pillar of the Center,” said Kadie Dennison, Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s marketing and development manager. “We value the opportunity to positively impact the quality of life for the more than 50,000 people that gave us a chance to educate, enrich and entertain them with events in our Chamber Music Spotlight Series, Organ Music Spotlight Series and the Artist Series. It’s always special when the opportunity to feature local musicians and performers on the Sondheim stage.”
