Along with the seventh-grade girls, the Trojan eighth-graders will host the Fairfield Relays on Monday.

Seventh-graders third in team race

The FMS seventh-grade girls placed third out of seven teams at Saturday’s track meet in Mount Pleasant, scoring 110 points on a pair of victories.

Host Mount Pleasant scored 136 points to take the team title, and Keokuk also finished ahead of Fairfield with 120.

The seventh-grade Trojans received a win from the distance medley crew of Taylor Myers, Sophie Allen, Lucia Van Dijk and Nicole Buch (5:13). They also had a win from the 4x100 team of Amiah Neff, Aluna Olaniyi, Amanda Carminhato and Ashtyn Drish (58.28).

The Trojans had several runner-up finishes, including Buch in both the 800 (2:48) and 1500-meter run (5:54), plus Drish in the 200-dash (30.31) and 400 (1:10.56). Neff tacked on a second-place finish in the 100-dash, and her time of 13.49 would have been fast enough to win the eighth-grade event.

Fairfield’s sprint medley relay team consisting of Olaniyi, Myers, Neff and Ashley Pool also ran fast enough to claim second place (2:17.33).

Third-place finishes were supplied by the Trojans’ shuttle hurdle relay (1:30) as well as the 4x200 (2:14.95). The 4x400 also finished third in 5:10.

Weather permitting, the Trojan girls will host the Fairfield Relays on Monday.
