Eleven girls track and field teams converged on Keokuk Tuesday evening for the Keossippi Relays with Fairfield finishing third overall in Class “A” and Van Buren coming in fourth in Class “B”.

Below are the complete list of participants from the Trojans and the Warriors. Fairfield’s results were highlighted by individual wins by Ashley Bloomquist in the 1500M run and Julia Fritz in the discus throw, while the distance medley and 4x400M hurdles both took first place in Class “A”.

Van Buren was led by a second-place finish by Grace Davidson in the 100M dash and a first place team time in the 4x100M relay.

“This is the time where we really want to start performing at our best,” said Fairfield girls track coach Jerrod Belzer. “We feel that by-and-large we’re starting to do that.”

As for an MVP of the night, how about a seven-way tie from Belzer?

“Dunlap, Neff, Olaniyi, Daugherty, Roberts, Corrick & Bloomquist all had either season bests or personal best marks, and that’s what we expect and like to see out of our upperclassmen,” said Coach Belz. “The Distance Medley is a relay that really stands out, too. We felt going into that meet that Jill, Alexis, Aluna & Ashley were our best foursome for that relay and they definitely didn’t disappoint. They ran our best relay time for the season and put up a top-15 time in class 3A. It was fun to watch them compete and perform well like they knew they could.”
