Fall field day tour Sept. 7at ISU research farm

PHOTO SUBMITTED The SE Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm’s fall field day will feature tour stops on topics including cover crop management, herbicide tolerance trait selection for 2018, and harvest issues and considerations.

CRAWFORDSVILLE — The Iowa State University Southeast Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm near Crawfordsville will have its fall field day for farmers, farmer advisers, and the general public beginning at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 7.

The field day is free and open to the public with no preregistration required. Certified Crop Advisor continuing education credits will be available for the afternoon tour.

The tour begins with a “Season Review” by Myron Rees, farm superintendent.

The field day will feature: cover crop management update by Kathleen Delate, ISU professor of horticulture; selecting herbicide tolerance traits for 2018 by Meaghan Anderson, ISU Extension field agronomist; and harvest issues and considerations by Mark Hanna, ISU Extension agricultural engineer, and Greg Brenneman, ISU Extension agricultural engineering specialist.

Attendees will have an opportunity to discuss concerns and ask questions of each speaker.

To reach the farm, follow U.S. Highway 218 1.75 miles south of Crawfordsville, then 2 miles east on county road G-62, then 0.75 mile north.

Signs will be posted to guide attendees to the event.
