Farmers market opens Saturday in Howard Park

May 01, 2017

The Fairfield Farmers Outdoor Market is set to open Saturday in Howard Park.

Market hours are 8 a.m. to 1p.m.

Shoppers can expect fresh produce, bakery items, wood crafts, jewelry, crocheted items, homemade cards and much more.

This year, in order to broaden the variety of products, the vendor boundaries are expanding into a few more adjoining counties. These counties will include: Iowa, Johnson and Mahaska.

A few of the products organizers are looking for are: meat/meat products, which requires a food license; cheese, which requires a food license; and prepared foods, which also requires a food license, and crafters with metal, soaps and candles.

Interested vendors can email fairfieldfarmersmarket@gmail.com to find out more details.

The Saturday outdoor farmers markets also include entertainment.

The season opens Saturday with country/folk musical entertainment by Tim Smith.

May 13, a children’s activity is being planned.

May 20, Michael & Emily Cantafio will perform as a jazz duet.
