FHS concert set Tuesday

May 06, 2013

The Fairfield High School Spring Concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts.

The concert will feature all students in the Ninth Grade Band and 10-12th Grade Band, ninth grade choirs and 10-12th grade choirs. The concert will present all of the groups with the music that was prepared for them for the state large-group contest.

Along with their contest music, the 10-12th Grade Band also will feature Mary Andersen on a “Solo de Concours,” a solo for clarinet and band. Andersen, the Fairfield Middle School band director, is an accomplished clarinetist. She has played with the Southeast Iowa Band and the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra.

The jazz band also will perform three songs.

The vocal department will feature some small groups, with students performing works written by FHS students Dakota Andersen, Coren Hucke and Claudia Sloat.

Tickets will be sold at the door, and all school passes will be honored.
