FHS girls' golf team shoots best round of season

May 15, 2017

The Fairfield Trojan girls’ golf team placed sixth in a 12-team tournament held at Copper Creek Golf Course.

The Trojans team score of 385 was their best of the season.

For Fairfield, Kylee Marlay shot 84, earning her seventh-place overall and Olivia Hammel scored an 88, taking 10th place. Also Kaelyn Strong shot 104, Joli Swan 109, Taylor Marlay 115, and Megan Higgins 128.

“The 385 is our best score of the season, so we are definitely putting things together at the right time,” said Trojan head coach Joe Kruzich. “We saw new personal bests from Kylee, Kaelyn and Megan which is always good to see, especially against the kind of competition that we see at a tournament like this one.

“I’m very proud of the girls for rebounding from a less than stellar meet last week and am very excited to see them carry this momentum into the remainder of the season.”
