The Fairfield Community School District’s school board election is Sept. 12, and the deadline to submit nominations is Aug. 3.

“[Monday] is the first day to file nomination papers,” said school board secretary Kim Sheets. “The deadline to submit nomination papers to me is Aug. 3.”

Paperwork is available now at the Adminstration/Curriculum/Technology center.

Three regular school board seats are currently up for re-election.

“We also had a resignation from Jeremy Miller, so there will be one vacancy because he is resigning his post,” she said, adding that whomever filled Miller’s seat, would complete the two-year continuation of his term.

According to the Iowa Association of School Boards, board member qualifications are as follows: a candidate must be a United States citizen, 18 years of age or older, a resident of the school district and eligible to be registered to vote.

For more information, contact the school district’s central office at 472-2655.
