Fire engulfs home in Fairfield

By ANDY HALLMAN | Sep 17, 2013

The Fairfield Fire Department responded to a house fully engulfed in flames at 4:05 p.m. Monday at 3210 W. Tyler Ave., the home of Mike Carlson. No injuries were reported from the fire. Nineteen firefighters used multiple water hoses and foam to quell the blaze, which burned for hours. The department’s aerial truck showered the house with water from afar while teams of firefighters approached the house to spray water directly through windows. Libertyville and Packwood fire departments responded to provide aid. The Fairfield Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Midwest Ambulance also were on the scene. The firefighters finally returned to the station at 10 p.m. Monday. Fairfield Fire Chief Scott Vaughan returned to the scene this morning to investigate the cause of the fire. He said the investigation is still ongoing.
