First Christian Church concludes fundraising soup suppers

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has now concluded its monthly soup suppers for the season.

Throughout the cold months, the church serves a monthly soup supper for a freewill donation. The generosity of those who attended provided donations to The Cornerstone Community Well, The Lord’s Cupboard, Take Away Hunger and the Christian Church Youth Camp in Newton.

The organizers say they appreciate the community support in these efforts and look forward to starting the soup suppers again in the fall.

Right to Life holding diaper drive Saturday

Jefferson County Right to Life will hold a diaper drive to mark the end of the spring 40 Days for Life campaign.

Members of the organization will be at the Fairfield Walmart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday asking shoppers to purchase packages of disposable diapers, which will be donated to Heartland Pregnancy Center.

Any baby items will be accepted, and cash donations are always appreciated.
