First United Methodist Church, Batavia hosting blood drives

First United Methodist Church will host a community blood drive from 2-6:15 p.m. Monday in the church dining room.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 15 are eligible to give at this drive.

For appointments to donate, contact Melva Dahl at 472-5762 or visit the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center’s website at www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5105 to locate the drive.

Batavia community

BATAVIA — The Batavia community will host a community blood drive from 3:30-6:30 p.m. March 14 at the Batavia Senior Center.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 17 are eligible to give at this drive.

For appointments to donate, contact the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center at 641-452-1097 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5135 to locate the drive.

Donor information

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old can give with parental permission; a form is available through www.bloodcenter.org. Donors must weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors.

Blood center officials say blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. It is the exclusive provider to Jefferson County Health Center.
