Flanagan excels in fiscal management

By John Revolinski | Jun 21, 2013

The citizens of Fairfield have taken on several ambitious projects through the years.

We have found creative ways to build extraordinary amenities for a city our size. Our library, indoor pool, downtown streetscape, trails, and civic center all attest to the spirit and confidence of our community and make Fairfield an increasingly attractive place to live.

As we move ahead with our latest venture—the outdoor pool and recreation center—it is more important than ever that we exercise fiscal discipline. The Ways and Means Committee looks forward to working with Kevin Flanagan, our city administrator, to develop a five-year budget plan and new policies to avoid cost overruns in each facet of city operations.

As chair of that committee I have worked closely with Kevin for the past year. He excels in fiscal management and he has dealt with significant challenges in an intelligent and balanced way. With his help the council is working to establish the city on a more secure financial footing so that we can enjoy our amenities and services in a way that meets our family budgets for years to come.
