The Fairfield Middle School seventh and eighth grade band received a 1 rating, the best possible, Thursday at SEIBA large group festival.

The band received 31 of 35 points from all three of the judges, improving their average score from last year by two points. They were given positive comments from judges specifically about their percussion section, articulation, their vast numbers (107 students are enrolled in the band), and their ability to bring out the emotion in the music.

Their program consisted of: "The Screaming Eagles", by John Edmondson; "Londonderry Ballad" by John Kinyon; and "Synthesis" by Brian Balmages.

The band's next performance will be May 15.
