Free film Friday at library

Nov 07, 2017

Fairfield Public Library will be featuring another free film Friday.

The film is a 2016 biographical romantic drama film about the life of artist Maud Lewis, who painted in Nova Scotia. In the story, Maud struggles with arthritis, memory of a lost child and a family that doubts her ability, before moving in with a gruff fish peddler as a cleaning lady. Despite their differing personalities, they marry as her art gains in popularity.

The film was shot in Newfoundland and Labrador, requiring a recreation of Lewis’s famously small house.

The film was selected to be screened in the Special Presentations section at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and won a number of awards at other festivals.

The film is rated PG-13 for some thematic content and brief sexuality, and runs for one hour and 55 minutes.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and the film begins at 7:30 p.m. Seating is limited.

Donations for the free film and organic popcorn will be accepted to help the library renew its movie licenses.

The library’s movie licenses does not allow it to advertise the name of the free movie. For details, go to the library’s calendar at www2.youseemore.com/fairfield/default.asp.
