Freshman boys fall to Mid-Prairie

A fourth-quarter drought derailed the Fairfield freshman boys in a 49-41 loss to Mid-Prairie Monday at Fairfield Middle School.

The Trojans led 29-27 at halftime, but Mid-Prairie took the lead for good in the second half when they held the host team to four points in the third quarter.

Leading scorers for Fairfield were Nick Higgins with 18 points and Alex Crile scoring 13.

The freshmen are back in action today at Centerville.


Freshmen blast E-B-F

EDDYVILLE — Nick Higgins scored 23 points to spark Fairfield’s ninth-grade boys to a 52-34 victory over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont on Thursday.

Fairfield’s Alex Crile scored 12 points, Zach Martin netted 10 and Nathan Thompson chipped in seven points. The Trojans led 33-19 at halftime.

Then, in Friday action, the Fairfield freshmen were held to seven second-half points in a 43-22 loss to Mount Pleasant. Crile scored 11 points and Higgins provided five.
