Freshmen football team defeats Mount Pleasant

The Fairfield freshmen football team won its first game of the season Friday when it defeated Mount Pleasant 30-18.

“It was a great win for our kids,” coach Brad Repp said. “We’ve been working on improving every game and we took a big step Friday night.”

Trenton Hanen ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Trojans. Brandon Smithburg ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns of his own. He also punched in three two point conversions.

Josh Osby caught two passes that went for a total of 100 yards.

Michael Fritz led the Fairfield defense in tackles with eight. Smithburg and Chris Hanson each had seven.

Brayden Miller made three tackles and caught an interception.
