Frog, toad call survey workshop set April 9

Apr 02, 2013

An Iowa Department of Natural Resources Frog and Toad Call Survey workshop will be hosted by Jefferson County Conservation 5:30-9 p.m. April 9 at the Jefferson County Park Nature Center.

The fee for the workshop is $10 and includes a meal.

Participants will learn how to identify frogs by sight and sound and how to perform nighttime surveys on a pre-determined route of sites.

The training is designed for adults, especially those with an interest in not only learning more about the natural world, but actually learning more about how to conduct a survey and collect data as part of the conservation process.

To register, email vwmp@dnr.iowa.gov or go to the website www.iowadnr.gov/volunteerwildlifemonitoring/ for a registration form.

Each year an army of volunteers helps the IDNR keep an eye on these resources.
