Frost expected tonight; cover or move plants inside

Oct 12, 2016

The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory in effect from 2 -9 a.m. Thursday for Fairfield.

A frost advisory means that frost is likely.

Temperatures will drop into the 29 to 34 degree range overnight along and northwest of a line from Freeport, Illinois, to Davenport and Keosauqua. Conditions will be ideal for widespread frost overnight into early Thursday morning.

According to the advisory, sensitive outdoor plants and vegetation could be killed in these conditions, so should be covered or moved indoors.

The National Weather Service’s hazardous weather outlook states frost also is possible again Thursday night in Iowa and Illinois north of Interstate 80.
