DES MOINES – Whether you are graduating from high school or college or looking to make a career change, the Future Ready Iowa website features a wealth of resources to help you plan your future.

This mobile-friendly website, www.futurereadyiowa.gov, is designed to make it easy to explore different careers; learn about the education and training programs available to help you pursue those careers; find out about resources to help pay for that education and training; and search available positions to find the right job opportunity for you. The main feature of the site is Iowa’s Career Coach, which provides you with information, by job title, to help you make the best decision you can in choosing a career path. Among other things, this information includes: wages you can expect to earn, current demand, and future outlook. You are also able to select your location so that the wage and demand information you see is specific to the area that you choose.

Career Coach also outlines the training required for each career and where in Iowa you can get that training. If you are not sure of your career path, the Career Assessment on the site helps you determine what jobs are best for you based on your interests. If you are ready to start job hunting, the resume builder is an easy-to-use tool to help you create a professional resume.

After setting your location, type manufacturing into the “Search careers” field to reveal an assortment of career options. Drilling further into each career provides information about typical job tasks, pay, growth, the impact expected retirements will have on job openings. You will also be connect to training programs available in Iowa that are related to the career you are researching. In addition, you can connect to current job openings in that field with local employers.
