Girl Scout sign-up Thursday evening

Sep 19, 2017

Fairfield Girl Scouts registration night is set from 5-6 p.m. Thursday at the Girl Scout Cabin in Old Settlers Park adjacent to Waterworks Park.

Troops are offered for every grade level, “and we need girls” said Girl Scout volunteer Sandy Davisson.

There are Daisies for kindergartners and first-graders; Brownies for second- and third graders; Juniors for fourth- and fifth-graders; Cadettes for sixth- through eighth-graders; Seniors for ninth- and 10th-graders; and Ambassadors for 11th- and 12th-graders.

For information about Girl Scout registration or the Girl Scout program, call 469-5655 or email Davisson at taximom@iowatelecom.net.

The Fairfield Girl Scouts are part of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.

At Girl Scouts, a girl will unleash her inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader).

Through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience — a collection of engaging, challenging, and fun activities like earning badges, going on trips, selling cookies, exploring science, getting outdoors, and doing community service projects.

At Girl Scouts, she’ll get to lead her own adventure and team up with other girls in an all-girl environment to choose the exciting, hands-on activities that interest her most.

The idea is to learn by doing, and at Girl Scouts, she’ll do lots of it.

She’ll be inspired to discover her talents and passions in a safe and supportive all-girl setting. She’ll join with other Girl Scouts and people in her community — and together, they’ll take action to change the world.

Along the way, she’ll gain skills in four areas that form the foundation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience: Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); outdoors; life skills; and entrepreneurship.
