Girl Scout service unit 941 of Jefferson County participated in a career outdoor weekend camp from July 28-30. The event was at Camp L-Kee-Ta near Danville. Thirty girls attended the event.

The girls had some unusual sleeping quarters that included a tree house. On the night of July 28, the girls learned about Native American games from a Henry County naturalist. The naturalist showed them a corn snake and two turtles. A campfire ceremony followed, and then a night hike concluded the evening.

On July 29, the girls listened to a guest speaker talk about “A Day in the Life of a Camp Counselor.” They made crafts, swam, went on a scavenger hunt, danced, put on a skit with costumes and watched a movie while munching on popcorn.

On the final day, the girls made a duct-tape themed arts and crafts, and then honed their archery skills. After playtime was over, the girls helped clean up the camp so it would look nice and tidy for the next group of campers to visit.
