Greenfest to celebrate Earth Week at IWC

Apr 17, 2013

MOUNT PLEASANT — Southeast Iowa natives Tiffany Ralston and Rachael Roewe, co-founders of {made}community.com, will be the featured speakers during Greenfest at Iowa Wesleyan College.

The women will present a program at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Science Hall Auditorium on the IWC campus in Mount Pleasant.

Ralston and Roewe were friends while students at Burlington High School. Ralston went on to major in art history at the University of Iowa; Roewe majored in finance at the University of Pennsylvania. They both relocated back to Iowa.

{made} is an online marketplace for sustainable goods that connects regional artists with consumers looking to buy products made from organic, sustainable, salvaged or vintage materials. The company gives back 9 percent of all brand sales to local women’s groups that create educational opportunities for women.

The program is open to the public.

The IWC student organization, Students for Sustainability, will be creating a recycled art piece on the central campus. It will be on display from Thursday morning until Friday evening.
