Health center employees walk to Omaha

Oct 09, 2017

Jefferson County Health Center employee Teri Zeitler accepts a gift certificate for a free pair of shoes from Brown Shoe Fit owner Benjamin Wagler.

Fifty of the health center’s employees, including Zeitler, just finished a 13-week challenge to walk 10,000 steps a day, which is approximately 5 miles. The daily steps fictitiously took them to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska, and back, walking about 460 miles.

“We called it The Rendezvous to The Zoo,” said Marty Chandler, health promotion and wellness manager at Jefferson County Health Center.

“As you can imagine, we lost a lot of tread on the soles of our shoes,” continued Chandler. “Ben Wagler ... was so generous to provide the grand prize winner of our challenge, Teri Zeitler, with a certificate to get a brand new pair of shoes.”
