Health classes set at senior center

Jan 29, 2013

The Seneca Area Agency on Aging is offering a Better Choices/Better Health program to help adults ages 55 and older manage the symptoms of ongoing health problems, such as issues with the heart and lungs, or have suffered from arthritis, stroke or diabetes.

The workshop series will be held once a week for six weeks at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center. Sessions will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays beginning Feb. 5 and continuing through March 12.

Class contributions will be accepted. Trained-peer leaders of the Seneca nutritional staff teach the sessions and work to create an environment of mutual support, which builds the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their health and lead active lives.

The workshop will include tips on problem solving, medications, working with the health care system, depression, better breathing, pain management, nutrition, exercise such as flexibility and strength building, and more.

Pre-registration is required. Call Susan Martin at the Fairfield senior center 472-4403.
