Historic Mt. Moriah M.E. Church to host community worship service

Jun 14, 2013

DOUDS — The historic Mt. Moriah M.E. Church will host an annual community worship service in conjunction with the Douds Field Day/Douds-Leando Alumni weekend at 10 a.m. June 23.

A social time, with continental breakfast refreshments, will precede the service beginning at 9 a.m.

The Rev. Phil Campbell, Douds Community Club president and Bethel Worship Center pastor, will lead the service.

Everyone is invited to the unique service.

The Mt. Moriah Church is a former Methodist country church built in 1892, replacing two former churches that were built on the site in 1846 and 1867.

The church closed in 1958. It was acquired and completely restored in 1997 by the Douds Historic Preservation Association Inc. and has been the location for a number of weddings, funerals and special services since that time.

The church is 1.5 miles north of Douds at 14889 120th St.
