Holiday events set in Eldon

PHOTO SUBMITTED The American Gothic House Center will have gingerbread house decorating Saturday during Eldon’s holiday activities.

ELDON — The city of Eldon will be celebrating the holidays with events planned this weekend.

Eldon’s Rock Island Depot will be open Friday evening and Saturday. The depot is a railroad museum with numerous items on display.

McHaffey Opera House will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday so visitors can see the trees and decorations in its Christmas Tree Wanderland.

Saturday begins with breakfast from 7-10 a.m. at the KD Center.

Local Women in Business will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Eldon Public Library. Various businesses will have displays set up.

Eldon Christian Church will show a movie from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by cookie decorating and refreshments. Plus, Santa Claus will visit with a gift for children through fifth-grade.

The American Gothic House Center is planning gingerbread house decorating from 2-5 p.m. for children of all ages. Graham crackers, candy decorations and frosting will be provided for the free event taking place in the American Gothic House.

Local Boy Scouts will host a soup supper and silent auction from 4:30-7 p.m. at the KD Center. Buggy rides will be available during the soup supper.
