Home builders award

Sep 09, 2013

Clint Kobelt of Keosauqua is presented the Workforce Training and Employment Career Builder of the Year Award by the Home Builders Institute. The institute runs programs throughout the country, including southeastern Iowa. Kobelt directs the Home Builders Institute PACT for Youth, which teaches at-risk youth marketable construction trade skills that help them become wage-earning citizens. In presenting the national award, a Home Builders Institute representative stated, “What sets Clint apart is his commitment to the young people we serve.” Kobelt and his participants have been recognized by Habitat for Humanity programs. Hope Haven awarded his program “Outstanding Partner of the Year.” Most of Kobelt’s students are placed in trade-related businesses. Characterizing his graduates who built a house from the ground up for the city of Burlington, Kobelt said, “The fact that they built the house didn’t make them better men. The fact that they chose to be better men resulted in the house being built.”
