Homecoming week at Van Buren High School starts Monday

KEOSAUQUA — Van Buren High School celebrates homecoming beginning Monday with special dress-up days throughout the week and several events on Sept. 27, including decorating Sixth Street, a downtown parade and the football game with New London.

Powder puff volleyball is 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by powder puff football, 7:15-8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The evening activities finish with a bonfire at school.

Sept. 27 is Spirit Day with students wearing school colors and hosting and participating in the Warrior Olympics at 1:15 p.m. High school football players and cheerleaders will be treated to a noon tailgate at Good Samaritan and FFA is hosting a tailgate supper open to everyone at 5 p.m.

Decorating Sixth Street begins at 1 p.m. and the Homecoming parade downtown begins at 3 p.m. Sept. 27.

Homecoming coronation is at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 27, prior to the 7 p.m. kickoff of the varsity football game with New London. A homecoming dance in the school gym follows the game and lasts until midnight.

Dress up Monday has the theme of College Fan Day; Tuesday is Duct Tape Day; Wednesday is Formal Day; and Thursday is Generation Day.

Seniors serving on the homecoming court are queen candidates Abby Rider, Faith Murphy, Kaitlyn Millard and Unity Daugherty and king candidates are Aaron Clemons, Mitch Garrels, Tyler Golden and Robby Laughlin.
