WASHINGTON — Batavia resident June Huffman recently received her late father’s military medals.

Huffman’s father, William Doss, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served during World War II as a rifleman in the 46th Armored Infantry Battalion.

Huffman requested Sen Chuck Grassley’s help in receiving her father’s medals.

Huffman, on her late father’s behalf, received the Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one Bronze Service Star, the World War II Victory Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge-1st award, the World War II Honorable Service Lapel Button and the Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle bar.

Grassley’s veterans fellow, Dave Allen, presented the military medals.

“I’m honored to have assisted June in obtaining her father’s medals,” said Grassley. “Her father deserves proper recognition for his service to our country.”
