IHCC alumni present free recital Monday evening

OTTUMWA — Pianist Hailey Haring and bass-baritone Andrew Kecy will present a joint alumni recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday in St. John Auditorium on the Indian Hills Community College Ottumwa campus.

The performance is free and open to the public.

Haring and Kecy are 2014 graduates of Indian Hills Community College where they were actively involved with theatre, choir and jazz band, and were the founders of Tono Bella, a student-led vocal ensemble. Since graduating from IHCC, both have received Bachelor of Music in Education degrees from Simpson College.

Haring’s portion of the recital will include music from several historical eras and nationalities by Scarlatti, Debussy, Gershwin and John Schmidt.

Kecy will perform a variety of art songs and musical show tunes by Schubert, Claude-Michael Schönberg, John Kander, and Lerner and Loewe.

To end the concert, Haring and Kecy will team up to perform Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music.”
