IHCC student art exhibit opens with reception

OTTUMWA — It’s been a busy year in the art department at Indian Hills Community College, and the students are ready to show off their work at the Annual Indian Hills Student Art Exhibition in the IHCC Art Gallery in the library on the Ottumwa campus.

The exhibit will open at 7 p.m. Monday, with a public reception in the art gallery.

The exhibit will showcase the creative work of IHCC students who have been enrolled in art courses during the past academic year. A wide array of media will be shown including drawings in pencil, colored pencil and ink; paintings in acrylics and watercolors; and ceramics in stoneware and raku.

Mark McWhorter and Lisa Fritz are the college’s art instructors.

The show will be on view until May 8.

Gallery hours are 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4:30 to 9 p.m. on Sundays.
