Imperative county grows

By J.D. Hollingsworth | Apr 24, 2014

To the editor:

As a local business and agricultural organization the Jefferson County Farm Bureau would like to express our strong support for the Heartland Co-op project for Jefferson County.

We feel this project is a benefit to Jefferson County, Fairfield and agriculture. Agriculture is the foundation of Iowa’s economy and we support this project because it is a way to service the agricultural community while providing an economic benefit to the county.

While we respect the concerns of the opposition to this project, it is imperative that Jefferson County continues to grow and allow opportunities for local businesses, like farming operations, to have added opportunities to do business.

We thank the county supervisors and the economic development group for their work so far to bring the project to this point, and encourage the county supervisors to keep the momentum going to bring more economic value to our community.

Thank you for your consideration of our support for the Heartland Co-op project.
