James 'Jim' Stagers

James “Jim” Stagers, 61, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at his sister’s home in Fairfield.

A celebration of life service was today, Monday, at Bettendorf Christian Church, with the Rev. Karl Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Visitation was Sunday at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport.

Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club or to the family.

Mr. Stagers was born in 1952 in Keosauqua, the son of Warren and Irene Stagers. He married Becky Fry Sept. 3, 1976, in Fairfield.

He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1970 and worked for various trucking companies.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but found his greatest joy in his family.

He was an avid Hawkeye fan.

Survivors include his wife Becky; one daughter, Amanda Creighton and spouse Adam of Bettendorf; two grandchildren; his mother, Irene of Fairfield; and four sisters, Linda Simpson of Fairfield, Shirley Stagers of Cape Fair, Mo., Bev Nelson of Libertyville and Lori Boger of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lindsey Stagers and his father, Warren.
