James L. Odum

James L. Odum, 85, of Charlotte, N.C., died Sept. 1, 2012, at home.

A Celebration of Life service was Sept. 4 at Heritage Funeral Home Weddington Chapel. He was inurned in Forest Lawn East Cemetery.

Mr. Odum was born June 28, 1927, in Fairfield, the son of Margaret and Lee Odum. He married Darlene in 1951.

He graduated from Fairfield High School.

He served in the military during World War II.

He graduated from the University of Iowa.

He worked for General Electric as a business trainer and on the auditing staff. He later served as district operating manger in several locations, including Charlotte.

He was active with Junior Achievement while living in Atlanta and Charlotte.

He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman, and he was active in all his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He was proud of their achievements.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Jeffery Odum and spouse Sherry, Patricia Osborn and spouse Lester, and Susan Odum and spouse Dolcie Peake; and four grandchildren.
