Jefferson County Ciderworks named outstanding dining business

Jefferson County Ciderworks was awarded “Outstanding Dining Business 2017” by the Iowa Tourism Board Oct. 26 at the Annual Tourism Conference in Sioux City.

Jefferson County Ciderworks is a premium craft hard cider producer, producing small batch “New American Ciders.”

The on-site Tap Room features craft hard cider; craft beer and “New American Bar Food” is served April through October. The menu features Midwest traditional items with an innovative twist. Dishes highlighting Iowa-produced favorites such as 10 hour-slow-smoked pulled pork sandwiches with pickled red onions and cilantro slaw and grilled sweet potato tacos with sweet corn and black beans. Up to six of Jefferson County Ciderworks small batch ciders are available on tap and eight additional taps feature hard-to-find craft beer.

Jefferson County Ciderworks is a hard cider producer and heirloom orchard. It features traditional hard cider and ciders with a unique mix of flavor combinations and techniques including aging in oak barrels, such as Oaked Sour Cherry, Original Apple, Hibiscus Rose and seasonal varietals including Cranberry Orange and Apple Pie.

The company distributes to bars and restaurants throughout Iowa.

The company was founded in 2013, when owners Jesse Narducci and Katie Greenfield moved back to the Heartland from California to bring craft cider to their home state. Coming from a background in culinary arts and mixology, cider maker Narducci had been brewing beer and hard cider for friends and family for over a decade.

The Jefferson County Ciderworks orchard has over 100 varietals of apples and 800 trees. Its fermenting operation and Tap Room are on the family farm west of Fairfield. Since opening the Tap Room in 2015, patrons have been coming from across the state to enjoy Jefferson County Ciderworks’s craft beverages, and relax with family and friends in their scenic countryside setting.
