Keegan Dickey and Max Peiffer check out fossils and geodes during Richland Public Library’s summer reading program July 24 with the Fairfield Sac & Fox Lapidary Club. Dennis Kossow presented a wide variety of rocks, minerals and gems. The children were wowed by the variety of rocks and fossils and were fascinated to learn fun facts about each. One of the most interesting specimens was a geode from Illinois that was filled with oil. At the end of the program, each child was presented with a quartz crystal or geode to take home.
