Learn about historic Ioway village

KEOSAUQUA — “American Village of Iowaville, a Des Moines River Water Trail event is set at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lacey-Keosauqua State Park Beach House Lodge.

Cherrie Haury Artz will be giving the program about the history of the Ioway people. Participants will learn about the historic Iowaville village, which once was the home of as many as 800 people.

The program is an official Des Moines River Water Trails event co-sponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Jefferson County Conservation.

The program is free, however, preregistration is required and participation is limited. Participants can register by calling 919-6822 or emailing dmriverwatertrail@gmail.com.
