PHOTO SUBMITTED Elaine Duncan, the artist of this mixed media piece, will teach an introductory art class Aug. 1 in the Fairfield Art Association Studio as an opportunity for interested people to try being creative.

Fairfield Art Association is offering an introductory art class with instructor Elaine Duncan from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 1 in the FAA Studio, where Duncan instructs a regular art class every other week titled “Art for your Sake.”

This is an opportunity to try being creative with no experience needed. The cost of the class is $7 per person. Materials will be provided.

Duncan is a well-known local artist and experienced instructor, who has worked in a variety of media from ceramics and jewelry to drawing, painting and collage. She has a way of leading the class with both group and individual attention, bringing out the best of each student. She believes making art is an enjoyable process and a natural expression of the unique creative energy within each individual.

“You do not have to have any special ability, talent or aptitude to make art and enjoy doing it,” Duncan said. “In this class, we will be using different materials in our spontaneous art-making. You do not have to know how to draw or paint, you only need bring yourself and an open attitude.”

Anyone interested in the class should preregister with Duncan by emailing her at e@elaineonline.net or calling or texting her at 641-954-2888.

Preregister can also be done noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the FAA Studio in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
