Proceeds from the sale help the Fairfield Public Library fund its programs and events

The Fairfield Public Library will offer two back-to-back weeklong book sales, starting with a early-bird preview sale from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

The book sale begins with a special early-bird sneak preview. Admission for the sneak preview is $5, which gives attendees first pick of materials in a wide variety of print, vintage, and audio visual materials.

The remainder of the two-week sale will be conducted during the library’s normal business hours Saturday through July 27, and admission is free.

On July 21, the inventory will be swapped out for entirely fresh items. The library staff encourages everyone to revisit the sale then.

More than 240 file boxes of inventory will be offered for sale over the two-week period. Roughly 60 of the boxes contain audio books — mostly books on tape. Adult fiction and non-fiction books, children’s books, DVDs, VHS and music CDs, vintage books and LPs will be available for sale at the library’s former reference desk. Book sales include many donated items, as well as items that were weeded from the library collection.

Prices for various formats range from 10 cents to $3. For example, adult paperback books are 50 cents each while adult hardcover books are $1 each or six for $5.

Proceeds from the sale help the library fund its programs and events.
