Local teams compete at Wildwood

Fairfield, Pekin, Van Buren and Cardinal cross-country teams all competed at the Wildwood Cross-Country meet Thursday in Ottumwa.

Pekin won the boys’ side with 47 points. Fairfield came in second with 67 points. Other teams were: Washington 94, Ottumwa 98, Sigourney 123, Van Buren 157, Danville/New London 158, Colfax-Mingo 194 and Mediapolis 198.

 

Individual times

Pekin

Pekin’s Colten Glosser won the boys’ race, coming in at 17:29 on the 5 kilometer course. Isaiah Wittrock came in seventh with a time of 18:42. Other Pekin places and times were: Sam Roth, 11th, 18:53; Brady Millikin, 14th, 19:01; Tanner Conger, 17th, 19:13; Cole Earnest, 67th, 22:47; Clayton Greiner, 76th, 23:27; Brad Gaines, 89th, 24:39; Kaden Pollock, 110th, 30:25.

 

Fairfield

The Trojans’ Mark Diers came in second behind Glosser. Diers crossed the finish line at 17:46. Other Trojan runners were: Dylan Harvey 13th, 19:00; Darren Roberts, 15th, 19:09; Dalton Rippey, 20th, 19:22; Alex Forrest, 21st, 19:27; Bryan Wilkins, 30th, 20:07; Shane Morrissey, 43rd, 20:52; Blake Holden, 48th, 21:03; Jake Watson, 51st, 21:07; Brecken Courtright, 52nd, 21:12; Connor Ryan, 55th, 21:30; Jonah Cooper, 65th, 22:24; Tommy Jones, 77th, 23:36; Jackson Brown, 102nd, 26:04; Toby Oliver, 104th, 26:18.

 

Van Buren

Jonah Heckenberg was the top Van Buren boy, crossing the line at 18:50, good for ninth place. Other Warriors were: John Orndoff, 29th, 20:06; Isaac Caston, 36th, 20:30; Jaeden Gerig, 42nd, 20:49; Caleb Stoltz, 66th, 22:38; Quentin Story, 71st, 23:00; Bryant Gerig, 80th, 23:38; Brycen Starnes, 100th, 25:50; Levi DeShane, 109th, 28:50; Logan Orndoff, 113th, 34:48.

 

Girls

Fairfield

Fairfield’s Ashley Bloomquist finished second behind only Ottumwa’s Kylie Latham. Bloomquist stopped the clock at 19:31. Other Trojan finishers were: Malory Jones, 35th, 25:01; Hailey Pohren-Gevock, 46th, 25:58; Devon Duke, 50th, 26:13; Nicole Buch, 53rd, 26:25; Claire Epperson, 61st, 27:14; Ella Pollet, 67th, 27:56.

 

Pekin

Remi Duwa came in fourth for Pekin with a time of 20:20. Other Pekin finishers were: Cari Duwa, 13th, 22:25; Zoey Wright, 19th, 23:03; Kelly Myers, 21st, 23:35; Hunter Lock, 22nd, 23:36; Hollie Loper, 24th, 23:46; Kaitlyn Glosser, 36th, 25:02; Jordyn Earnest, 37th, 25:22; Gracie Baetsle, 56th, 26:49; Sammi Reinier, 70th, 28:14; Kodi Dailey, 71st, 28:17; Kira Smith, 76th, 29:15; Shannon Saeger, 79th, 29:27; Tara Kielkopf, 90th, 30:20; Hailey Beam, 95th, 31:24; Mackenna Myers, 96th, 31:36; Katie Jones, 100th, 33:01.

 

Van Buren

The Warriors' top finisher was Audrey Smith, who came in 27th with a time of 24:38. Other Warriors were: Codi Welch, 33rd, 25:00; Anna Neeley, 34th, 25:00; Julia Bruckman, 88th, 30:18; Sarah Davis, 94th, 30:42; Erin Tedrow, 99th, 33:00.
