Loopy Trail Run completed Saturday

Photo by: ANDY HALLMAN/Ledger photo The Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department held its annual Loopy Trail Run Saturday morning in conditions that were unusually brisk for mid-May, but perfect for running 16 miles.

The Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department held its third annual Loopy Trail Run Saturday.

This is a 15.9-mile run. Seven children ran the half-mile course fun run. There were 12 participants who ran the entire 15.9 miles and 23 runners ran in the team race.

The top overall runner was Chris Bowers from Ottumwa, with a new record time of 1:50.15. First place in the team race was Jason Miller, Ezana Adugne and Nayagar Vinodthan with a time of 1:46.59. The second place team was Richard Taylor, Brandon Harris and Joe Hird with the time of 2:18.27. Ashley Blooomquist, Shannon Morrissey and Kylee Marlay finished third.

Other individual results included Peter Mannisi (2:00.06), Greg Johnson (2:14.30), Colin Heaton (2:15.07), Mark Powers (2:20.14), Joseph Greenfield (2:25.59), Doug Adam (2:27.34), Larry Perkins (2:27.54) and Joel Abrams (2:30.00).
