Lunch-and-learn focuses on ag impact on economy

Jun 27, 2017

The second Jefferson County “Ag Lunch-and-Learn” will be noon to 1 p.m. July 21 at Heartland Co-op.

The lunch-and-learn will include lunch grilled by Jefferson County Cattlemen, an overview of agriculture’s impact on Jefferson County, a crop and livestock update, and a tour of the Heartland Co-op facilities.

“This is a great opportunity for folks to not only learn more about agriculture’s role in Jefferson County and get a crop and livestock update, but it will also provide the opportunity to learn more about and tour Heartland Co-op,” said Rebecca Vittetoe, field agronomist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

Speakers at the lunch-and-learn will include: ISU Extension and Outreach specialists Charles Brown, extension farm management specialist, Tom Miller, extension swine specialist and Vittetoe, extension field agronomist.

The lunch-and-learn is free and open to the public.

To get an accurate head count for the meal, sign up by calling the Jefferson County Extension office at 472-4166 by July 18.

Program partners for the Jefferson County Ag Lunch-and-Learn are Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Jefferson County Farm Bureau, and the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
