Malloy has inspired us

By Sarah W. Cochran | May 31, 2018

To the editor:

As a 30-year member of the Fairfield community, I am honored to support Ed Malloy for Iowa State Senate. Ed is exactly the type of person I want to represent me in Des Moines.

He is intelligent and well-spoken, but most of all, Ed is a proven leader. He is committed to revitalizing our rural communities and he has the experience to get this done.

Having grown up in Iowa, I find that Fairfield is different from other small Iowa communities. We boast many amenities that make Fairfield a better place to live. We have vibrant retail establishments; we have a beautiful library; our new recreation facility and pool provide hours of enjoyment for our citizens.

The indoor pool and rec center are also popular attractions. The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, the Carnegie Museum and our Maasdam Barns attract local and out-of-town visitors alike. Fairfield’s art and music scene are very active with several art galleries and music venues.

We have walking trails as well as award-winning restaurants and night-life. The business climate is growing; there’s a focus on renewable energy and much more. Let’s face it, Fairfield is just a cool place to live!

Mayor Ed Malloy would be the first to say that he doesn’t deserve all of the credit for these great things happening in Fairfield, and that’s true, but Ed’s vision for our community has inspired us to continue to move forward and not remain stagnant. He knows how to bring people together and he inspires those of us who have worked on some of these committees to be part of his vision. Ed steps up and steps in when needed and knows when and how much to be involved. In short, Ed gets things done. Fairfield has been fortunate to have him in our community and leading our city government.

Ed genuinely wants to improve the rural communities in our district. His vision, experience and leadership are a very powerful combination from which Fairfield and the surrounding area have benefited. District 41 could do the same, with Ed as our Senator.

I hope you will join me in voting for Ed Malloy for Iowa State Senate. We need his experience, his vision and his leadership.
