Master Gardeners webcast focuses on trees

Jul 14, 2017

The Master Gardener 2017 summer webcast series, “Growing Season,” will offer “Urban Tree Selection” Thursday.

The webcast will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County ISU Extension & Outreach office.

The class will help attendees build skills to make recommendations about tree species selection and explore urban considerations for site selection and tree maintenance.

Another webcast “Landscaping for Wildlife,” is scheduled from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Extension office. Attendees will learn about simple steps to bring landscaping alive with birds, butterflies and more. They will explore ways to beautify the yard and provide critical habitats for migratory and resident birds year-round.

The webinars count toward Master Gardener continuing education hours.

Those who would like to become Master Gardeners can participate in the Master Gardener Core Training. ISU Extension & Outreach is providing 40 hours of training for new Master Gardeners in 2017 on Tuesdays beginning in September across Iowa.

To sign up for the webcasts, call Colleen Matson at the Jefferson County ISU Extension office at 472-4166.

For information about Master Gardeners and the upcoming training, call Matson or visit the website www.extension.iastate.edu/mastergardener.
