‘Matter of Balance’ class to focus on how to manage falls

SIGOURNEY — Seneca Area Agency on Aging is providing the program “Matter of Balance” beginning April 23 in Sigourney.

Classes will be held from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 23 through May 16 at the Sigourney Senior Center.

The Matter of Balance program is designed to reduce falling, stop the fear of falling cycle and improve activity levels. The award-winning program from Boston University is supported by the Iowa Association of Area Agencies on Aging and Seneca Area Agency on Aging.

Anyone interested in improving balance and flexibility can attend.

Attendees will learn how to increase activity and gain balance. They will learn how to make changes to reduce fall risks at home and so much more.

According to information from Seneca, falls are the leading cause of injury and death for Iowans age 65 and olderm and many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities.
