Middle schoolers run at Riverview, Waterworks

Fairfield Middle School cross-country season is in full swing. Trojan runners competed in front of their hometown fans Thursday at the Fairfield Invite at Waterworks Park. Two days before that, the Trojans were just down the road at Riverview Country Club in Keosauqua.

Eighth-grader Dylan Hunter was the fastest Trojan at Thursday’s race, running the 2-mile course in 12:20. Kaidyn Mickels, another eighth-grader, finished 23rd with a time of 13:43.

A pair of seventh-graders were next in line: Austin Lisk, 38th, 14:09, and Carter Thompson, 42, 14:14.

Rounding out the top of the field for Fairfield were eighth-graders River Patterson, 53rd, 14:55; Chandler Pumphrey, 58th, 15:05; and Tim Miao, 60th, 15:08.



Eighth-grader Delaney Breen was the fastest Trojan on the girls’ side, crossing the finish line in 15:02 for 14th place. She was followed by a quartet of seventh-graders: Ashlyn Lisk, 18th, 15:18; Belle Meador, 32nd, 15:19; Mackenzie Kraemer, 41st, 16:31; Paige Craun, 54th, 17:30.

Next were eighth-grader Gerda Fiske, 65th, 18:32, and seventh-grader Tisha Brinkschroeder, 71st, 19:13.

A total of 122 boys and 101 girls ran in the middle school’s meet at Waterworks Park.


Riverview Country Club


Dylan Hunter also got sixth place at the meet on Sept. 5 in Keosauqua, a shorter race only 1.5 miles long instead of 2 like at Fairfield. Hunter was clocked at 8:20. River Patterson was 28th with a time of 9:20. Other finishers were: Carter Thompson, 32nd, 9:30; Austin Lisk, 37th, 9:47; Ethan McReynolds, 49th, 10:04; Brendon Marcellus, 54th, 10:14; Kaidyn Mickels, 58th, 10:18.



Delaney Breen stopped the watches at 10:08 for seventh place. Ashlyn Lisk was two seconds behind her in eighth place. Other Trojans were: Mackenzie Kraemer, 12th, 10:25; Belle Meador, 15th, 10:34; Paige Craun, 19th, 10:46; Tisha Brinkschroeder, 43rd, 12:02; Gerda Fiske, 48th, 12:29.

Ninety-three boys and 60 girls ran at the meet.


The next meet for the middle schoolers is Thursday at Rodeo Park in Fort Madison. The race begins at 5 p.m.
