Milestones, SMP shredding paper

OTTUMWA – Milestones Area Agency on Aging and Senior Medicare Patrol is sponsoring a free community Shred Event 3-5 p.m. July 20 in the Quincy Place Mall parking lot in Ottumwa.

People can clean out their files and bring their outdated paperwork to ne shredded.

This a safe and convenient way to dispose of obsolete personal papers containing Social Security, Medicare, health insurance, credit card and banking identification numbers. Shredding sensitive documents is one way to reduce the risk of identity theft and Medicare fraud.

Milestones Staff and SMP volunteers will be on hand with information on identity theft and protection.

Small business shredding also is accepted.

Other community supporters are South Ottumwa Savings Bank, American Family Insurance and Meridan Credit Union, Walmart, HyVee and Thomas W. Evans Pediatric Dental. On-site shredding is provided by Shred-it.
