Mosquito/Public Health Pest Management course offered Nov. 1

The Jefferson County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office will offer the Mosquito/Public Health Pest Management Continuing Instruction Course for commercial pesticide applicators Nov. 1.

The program, provided by the ISU Extension and Outreach Pesticide Safety Education Program, can be seen at office locations across Iowa, including the Jefferson County ISU Extension office in Fairfield.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., followed by sessions from 9-11:30 a.m.

The registration fee is $35 on or before Oct. 25 and $45 after Oct. 25. To register or to obtain additional information about the CIC, contact Colleen Matson at the Jefferson County ISU Extension office by calling 472-4166.

The course will provide continuing instruction credit for commercial pesticide applicators certified in categories 7D (Community Insect Management), 8 (Public Health Pest Control), and 10 (Research and Demonstration).

The course will cover topics such as safe handling and storage of pesticides; pests, pest management, and pesticides, including non-chemical control methods; laws and regulations; and personal protective equipment.
