Chauncey Moulding

Fairfield resident Chauncy Moulding announced this week that he will seek the Democratic Party’s nomination for Jefferson County Attorney.

Moulding graduated from Maharishi School in 2002. He said he hopes to bring a new generation of leadership to the role of top prosecutor.

The Democratic Party plans to hold a special nominating convention Saturday.

If nominated, Moulding will be on the ballot for the Nov. 6 generation election.

Moulding’s background includes a tour of duty with the U.S. Coast Guard after high school, conducting counter-narcotics interdiction and search and rescue operations throughout the Pacific Ocean. He earned degrees from the University of Iowa and University of South Dakota School of Law using the G.I. Bill, and later worked as a judicial law clerk for the judges of the 8th Judicial District, which includes Jefferson County.

He is a criminal prosecutor serving as Assistant County Attorney for both Keokuk and Washington counties. In this role, he investigates and prosecutes a caseload that ranges from simple misdemeanor traffic infractions to forcible felonies.
