Festeburg singing at Mount Pleasant churches

MOUNT PLEASANT — Festeburg, a group of nine male student musicians from Wartburg College in Waverly, will be in concert Jan. 18-19 at churches in Mount Pleasant.

The group will be singing during the 5:30 p.m. Jan. 18 worship service at First United Methodist Church and at the 9:45 a.m. Jan. 19 worship service at First Presbyterian Church.

The group is raising funds for its summer tour of Europe with all of the vocal ensembles from Wartburg College. A love-offering will be received, and CDs will be available for sale at both services.

Southeast Iowans in the group include Tanner Stutzman, a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, who is a sophomore music education major, and Chris McIntyre, a graduate of Mediapolis High School and a senior music education major.

Festeburg or “Mighty Fortress” is dedicated to creating music together for the purpose of serving the community, Wartburg College, friends, family, each other and ultimately God. Each member is committed to learning about each other’s differences and leading from areas of strength as a means for putting together a team that complements on another musically and nonmusically. Through dedication, work ethic, faith and camaraderie, Festeburg is a musical tradition that adds to the existing foundation of outstanding choral music at Wartburg College.
